Midnight Baby Musings...

There is quite a love story brewing at our house! Evan has been home almost 2 weeks now, and he is one fabulous baby.

I love his littleness- not just the obvious cute parts like little hands, little feet- his entire being is just so little but perfect. The only big thing about him right now is his personality (commmunicated mostly via heavy breathing), and his ability to get the hiccups. His entire body jumps but he doesn't seem to mind. I see him now without much baby fat and try to guess how similar he might look as an adult. I can't believe there will be a time soon when he doesn't fit in my palm and wrist. He's already gained close to a pound since he's been home and tips the scales at just under 6 lb right now. As the nurses in the NICU put it, Evan is a very "active" baby. He keeps up a very charming routine: stretching, kicking off his blanket, grunting, smiling and even laughing in his sleep, and gazing to memorize our faces. There's a fair amount of asleep time in there, just not exactly when you want it to happen at 2am.

Drew loves Evan to pieces. Evan seems to occupy the same place in Drew's heart as kittens do, and that's saying something. Maybe it's due to their approximate size. When Evan looks at him, Drew runs to tell me "he looked right into my eyes!" Off to a good start in the big brother department. Many pictures coming soon!
