Thank you, Key West

We were getting awfully tired of the rain and the cold and the LACK OF SNOW here in Philadelphia since December, so we arranged a weekend away in the Florida Keys-- with friends, but without kids! For 3 days we stayed on Sunset Key, a 27 acre island (formerly known as Tank Island since it once housed fuel tanks for the Navy) that is now a gorgeous resort of beach cottages. Key West and all of its odd entertaining color was just 10 minutes away by boat, so it was the best of both worlds for us.

How's this for a room with a view?

We enjoyed meeting the "Southernmost Bagpiper in the US", as well as various contortionists that craved attention and played with fire. We got to visit Hemingway's house and haunt his old haunts throughout the town. Mutant six-toed cats were spotted, along with roosters and chickens everywhere.

("Sure, go Eagles.")

There were many moments that felt like we were in a foreign country, but exactly half of our party really enjoyed the perks of home like watching the Eagles beat the Vikings at Pat Croce's Rum Barrel Bar!

Winning at Halftime...or else we wouldn't have been able to leave for airport home.

And counting down the minutes before boarding the plane...

The boys were missed, but they did just fine despite knowing deep in their bones that their parents were sleeping way more than what's normally allowed.
