Our annual week at the beach this year was a little more dramatic than usual, with David unfortunately traveling back and forth to work, and then coming back just in time to pull his bicep tendon off the bone in his arm during a now famous jungle-gym accident at the Cape May zoo playground. Percocet, surgery, a cast, and rehab should patch him back up, but this has been a painful lesson for the biggest boy on the playground.

Highlights of the week were plentiful, though:

-Drew getting a hole in one at mini-golf, while looking like a veritable Rodney Dangerfield (plaid shorts, a red belt, and a green tshirt)

-The addition of 2 temporary family pets: Beepy the Frog (found by Drew who came to me saying "Mama- look a frog!" "Oh my...go find Dada"), and Feisty the Crab, who was caught off the dock, held captive in a sand bucket for awhile before we faced facts that Feisty should return to home to his family of other 'feisties'.

-Biking and kayaking en famille, and watching Drew's horizons expand from the usual brick and concrete to nature/adventure. He spread much goodwill and love around the island, and learned early in the week to wave at the boats going by.

-And on June 23, David & I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We feel tired, but lucky. Five down, a lifetime to go. As we were cleaning up the playroom earlier, I asked him if he ever thought we would be looking for a children's sneaker under the sofa together. Neither one of us ever expected that, but we never expected this much love in our lives either.
