Fall Update!

So sorry to have been out of touch, Friends & Family! Here are some brief highlights from the past 2 months:

-We enjoyed a week's vacation over Labor Day at the rehabbed Poconos house. It literally rained every day (!) but we found time to do some of the finer things in life like chase snakes in puddles, listen to Cole Porter albums, play backgammon & cards, and do some wet kayaking. Another highlight was a day trip to Milford. Here we are en famille, enjoying our jaunt to the big rock in the lake.

-This fall, Drew became an official student of the "Kitten Class" at Society Hill Playschool. He attends the 2-year-old class two mornings per week, and he has adapted very well to the new school routine. Of course he has developed crushes on his two teachers, which always helps. Drew is learning new songs, practicing how to "put his listening ears on", and is covering our refrigerator with impressive artwork! I promise to upload pictures from his first day of school here shortly. There were no tears that day, but I admit my heart was pretty heavy at seeing our big boy take the plunge. As peer groups go, however, things could have been a lot worse. We are really pleased at the caliber of the school and his 9 other classmates.

-We have been enjoying a renewed park in our neighborhood called "Franklin Square" these days. This was one of Penn's original 5 "green" squares in the city which had been neglected and rundown for as long as we've lived in town. It's been fantastically restored now, with an old-fashioned Carousel, Philadelphia-themed mini-golf course (complete with a mini Elfreth's Alley), and great playground equipment. Drew has become an avid golfer as you can see! (Drew is on the right)

Check here for Halloween Updates next week! Drew's admiration of Bert and the other chimney sweeps from Mary Poppins continues unabated. We have a whole British-chimney-sweep ensemble waiting for him, but right now he thinks that his costume is just a mindset, and any clothes (especially pajamas) will do as long as he dances, carries a broom, and looks "sooty". Tune in next week to see who prevails...
