A Few Drew Milestones

Within the past 2 weeks, Drew's activities have dwindled down to...zero! The last time that happened he was probably 16 months old. Last week he graduated from preschool at Society Hill Playschool. It's hard to describe the transformation that Drew made in preschool over the past 2 years.

He started out attending the 2-year old class 6 hours/week in '06-'07 (Drew's in white in the middle):
and then entered the much larger 3-5 year old class for 12 hours/week this past year. (I see we like to use the white sweatshirt on picture days...Drew is standing in front of the teacher on the left):

Along the way, he transformed from baby to boy. He lost a certain sweetness in his personality, but he gained a growing knowledge of relationships and society in general. He preferred his teachers to his friends most of the time (and along the way fell in love with 3 of them) but toward the end of this year he struck up a real friendship with the most rascally (& entertaining) kid in the class that involved a lot of co-superhero worship. He has started to learn what "cool" is...oh no!

Last week also marked Drew's final class at Miss Lori's Philadelphia Dance Academy.

(my thanks to www.chrismeck.com for the professional dance photographs!)
Honestly, Drew is a good dancer-- he still likes it enough to survive being the only boy in the class. He's told me that he wants to learn tap, breakdancing and hip-hop next. God knows what this will do for him in later life, but it should make for an interesting year!

Wow! What a big boy! It's pretty amazing isn't it? Drew IS a good dancer! I'm happy that he stuck it out, even being the only boy. My guy is taking a tap class for a week this summer at the Y, that ought to be good! Miss you guys, I hear there's a lot going on on The Alley right now.
